The story of our hotel name begins with the legend of Zagreb.<\/p>

In ancient times, when there was a great drought in this area, a great warrior passed with his army, which had already fainted from thirst. The warrior thrust his sword into the ground and clear water flowed from it. Then he saw the beautiful girl Manda and shouted: \u201eMando, darling, grab the water!\u201c<\/strong> (Croatian word for grab is \u201czagrabi\u201d) and according to tradition, the city and the well got their names.<\/p>

One of Zagreb\u2019s stories is hidden within the historic building that is now home to MANDA Heritage Hotel.<\/p>

The story of the building dates back to 1927, when the Engineers\u2019 House (In\u017eenjerski dom) was built according to the design of architect Alad\u00e1r Baranyai, from the architectural practice Benedik & Baranyai. Located opposite the monumental Stock Exchange Palace designed by Viktor Kova\u010di\u0107, today the headquarters of the Croatian National Bank, the Engineers\u2019 House was conceived as its architectural counterpart. Together, the two buildings created a monumental architectural gateway towards what was then the newer eastern part of Zagreb.<\/p>

Almost a century later, MANDA Heritage Hotel was created out of a love for Zagreb, its history, architecture and people. Through the careful restoration of this historic building, we have preserved its character and architectural heritage while bringing it together with contemporary design, comfort and a modern hospitality experience.<\/p>

When you stay at MANDA, you are not simply staying in a hotel \u2014 you are becoming part of a Zagreb story.<\/p>
